The 19th Annual Suncoast Hospice Ball presented by Stahl and Associates Insurance took place virtually on August 8. The night included videos from Empath Health leadership, key sponsors and volunteers. The event also included a silent and live auction and ended with a Give from the Heart request with a video of Candy Christensen-Barker sharing her Suncoast Hospice story. The highlight of the live auction was an original piece of custom jewelry from Design One and the one-of-a-kind Stamas Skiff created and donated by Stamas Yacht. The Virtual Suncoast Hospice Ball raised over $310,000 for the Suncoast Hospice Foundation that funds the programs and services of Empath Health and its members.
You can still view the event video at SuncoastHospiceBall.org and make a donation.

Celebrating EPIC’s Inaugural eVENT! We had to cancel our reservations to Dine Out in April, our dancing shoes gathered dust as we dimmed The Masquerade’s lights in July and we couldn’t bowl for top score at Strike Out for AIDS in August. But, you know what we could still do? Serve EPIC’s clients and families, fill our food and personal needs pantries, provide rent/grocery/health insurance assistance, meet virtually with those in need, and continue providing essential HIV services.
We were pleased to host the Inaugural EPIC eVENT! An online fundraising campaign ending with an exciting Bandingo Game Night on Thursday, September 17. We are grateful to our Presenting Sponsor Gilead Sciences for sharing a “toast” with us using our signature drink: Pandemic Punch!
Thank you to all our sponsors: Gilead Sciences, Tampa Family Pharmacy, RXYES, Inc, Greg Bailey Automotive, The Orloff Family Philanthropic Fund, The Pesky Pelican, Dr. David Buby and Christopher Manning.
On Thursday, September 17 EPIC (Empath Partners in Care) celebrated our 15th year participating in Dining Out For Life. Due to our new COVID lifestyle, the event became Dine Out Safely, Takeout, Delivery For Life!
In the past, our restaurant partners generously donated a portion of their proceeds from the one-day dining event to support EPIC and our vital HIV/AIDS services. This year we wanted to return the favor by uplifting and supporting them so we did not require a donation for their participation. Instead, we encouraged the EPIC community to support our amazing DOFL restaurants by: dining in safely, ordering takeout, curbside pickup, having a meal delivered, purchasing a gift card or buying their swag!
We are grateful to the 40 restaurants that participated and for our sponsors: The Milkey Family Foundation, 400 Beach and Seafood Restaurant and Curlew Hills Memory Gardens.
